PALMA DI MONTECHIARO : Passeggiate tomasiane
Palma di Montechiarohe Literary Park suggest a route through the historical centre, whose seventeenth century plan is still intact and recognisable and makes up a monumental unicum of the highest interest: the most important stops of the visit are the Ducal palace, the Mother Church, the Benedictine Convent, the Piarists' House, today the seat of the Town Hall.
"Sentimental tours" guided by actors who evoke the atmosfere of pages by Tomasi animate the urban territory and its surroundings. In the Ducal Palace a Town Museum is being organized which will illustrate the town's history from the first settlements, to the foundation of the Tomasi feud, to the passage from the Kingdom of Italy, up to the occupation of the century that has just gone by. In this seat a relevant exhibition is planned, of art objects belonging to the Tomasi family, of the writer's personal photographs and manuscripts and of the most beatiful pictures from Visconti's film.
The meetings at the Caffè letterario, which are held periodically and which involve the active participation of the local students, are accompanied by the tasting of the almond cakes delightedly mentioned in The Leopard.
